"Yay, Capitalism" is all about my first trip to New York City. Coming from a rural area in Tennessee, the most famous city in the world was a total culture shock. It seemed to move at the speed of greed. It was rife with advertisements and seemingly faceless people. It felt like a place that was emotionally cold, uncaring, and fueled by commercialism. Admittedly, the entire city was not like this, but that specific moment was my most impactful memory from the trip and I painted this piece as soon as we returned."
