“ART IS BORING AND PRETENTIOUS,” was my outlook until the age of 17. That’s about the time when my Bi-Polar disorder kicked in and turned my world upside down. The depression and mania danced a ballet of destruction within me until it crescendoed into a suicide attempt at the age of 21. The attempt led to an inpatient hospital stay, which led to an outpatient therapy program, which led to art as a therapy, which has led me to NOW.
My work is the product of mental illness. Each brush and palette knife stroke IS the physical release of mental illness. Each piece IS an amalgamation of my emotions spread onto a canvas. My work takes the ballet of destruction that once lived hidden within me and puts it on display for the world to see. I MUST create to survive. I MUST create to inspire hope for others in similar situations. I MUST create to raise awareness for those that are unfamiliar with the devastation caused by mental illness. So, since the age of 21, my outlook has transformed and is best succinctly summarized as: “ART IS MY LIFE.”
I have been president and publisher of three Gulf Coast newspapers in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. I love art. What I have discovered in Josh is a rare talent. His abilities are a unique blend of impressionism and realism. His eye for realistic abstract sets him apart. I have been around the world and what I see in Josh is what I often tell him is only the beginning of his amazing inspiration. He is a master in the works. I should also add that I’ve led a Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper... And I see in Josh an incredibly gifted writer. He is an exceptional thinker. That’s not a surprise to me in that his art often reflects the brilliance of his mind."

Joshua's art is what I feel like Monet would be creating if he were alive in the modern day."
